The need is Now for the NFL to act.

The economic environment is going to affect the NFL quickly. All of their revenue streams are going to be reduced. The middle class and lower income Americans have not been able to afford a NFL ticket in the past few years and now that number is increasing at an alarming rate. Not only the NFL is going to be affected. All levels from Pee Wee to Collegiate are going to hurting for money. It is time for the NFL to show that the sport of Professional Football is not just about money. They must immediately begin to support financially the lower player levels so that the game can still maintain its position as the American Sport. The pool of players is going to shrink as money for football scholarships begins to be needed for the primary mission of the colleges and universities which is academic excellence.

Young men who would normally be scholarshiped will find that there is no call for their talents and that their dreams of stardom and financial success are just unattainable dreams. This can be avoided if the NFL builds a minor league system where they can train and build a new supply of needed talent.

But the NFL is going to have to overcome their drive for power and money(greed). Commissioner Goodell is going to have think out of the box or he is going to be known as the overseer of the Fall of the NFL. It's time for change. Maybe the Universities should ask the NFL for payment for training their players.
